Reavis Geneology

1. Gen. 1 Edward Reavis came to America, we are told, and Edward’s name had an “i” dotted and the name changed from Reeves to Reavis. Sometimes it is Rives, Reevis, Reves. So history really is made with this family. Edward was married to Hannah Alley who is the father of the family.  There are many stories circulating on the arrival in America, but the documented one as far as we know is that his name was Rivis and later changed to Reavis. 2. Gen. 2 James Reavis was the second son of Edward. He married Elizabeth Street 3. Gen. 3 David Reavis Married Jemima Reed 4. Gen 4 Edward Reavis b 1845 Taladega AL M. Elizabeth Doyle b 1781 NC 5. Dr William Andrew Reavis was my Great Great Grandfather on my Mother’s side. He was a doctor and a minister both in Tennessee and in Texas. They moved to Texas in 1856 in Leon County. He died in 1866 and his wife, Julina moved with her children to Hillsboro Texas where her son Wilson Overton was in business. He later was in business with John Peter Thomason who married my Grandmother, Susan W. Reavis.DD
